Naxi radio was founded in 1994 and got a licence to broadcast in the Belgrade area in 2006. Their content is mostly based on pop and rock music with 60 seconds news on every hour. According to information on their website, they created a radio network called Naxi Nacional and are using it to broadcast their program in more than 30 cities across Serbia. In 2012 they presented the network of their digital radio stations whose program is mostly based on different music genres.

In an interview to Story, Maja Rakovic said that she was working in the public administration during the 1990s, but that she always wanted to have a radio station and that because of that, she left the public administration and created the radio. She is also a representative of an association called Radio Advertising Bureau Serbia. Members of this association are in many local commissions which decide on allocating public funds for media from local budgets.
