The first issue of the weekly news magazine Vreme came out in October 1990. The magazine was founded by a group of independent-minded journalists from the news magazine NIN and daily newspaper Borba, along with a number of other journalists and political dissidents from Belgrade. Over the years, the weekly has cultivated an independent, pro-European and liberal editorial line. During the 1990s, it was a symbol of independent media sharply critical of the authoritarian regime in power at the time.
