Founded in 1976, KKR is an American multinational private equity firm, specializing in leveraged buyouts, headquartered in New York City. It is a world leader in the private equity industry, having completed more than 280 private equity investments in portfolio companies with a total transaction value in excess of $530 billion as of December 31, 2016. David Petraues, controversial former CIA director, is the head of KKR Global Insittute and he was the one arranging and agreeing on the company's investment in the Balkans in 2014. Namely, KKR bought United Group, which has been present in the Balkans by acquiring one by one cable operator, internet providers and other companies in the field of telco industry, but also for launching the N1 cable channel and buying Grand Production (folk music production).
As KKR is a private equity fund, there are no particular owners of United Group.
